Level:
Module 01 — Daily Walkaround
The pre-start inspection carried out in the order the checklist expects, running sixteen minutes end to end, with a short knowledge check to complete before the module is marked as done.
Module 02 — Load Charts in Practice
Reading a chart on the machine rather than in the classroom, including two worked cases where the published figure does not apply. Counts towards renewal credit for lifting duties.
Module 03 — Working After Dark
Lighting, visibility and banksman signals once daylight has gone. Recorded on a live compound using the standard rig, so what you see is what will be issued to you on site.
Module 04 — Slopes and Soft Ground
Where machines are lost, and why the ground assessment is made on foot before anything is driven onto it. Contains footage of a controlled tip-over carried out on the test bank.
Module 05 — Isolation and Lock-Off
The full sequence, including the steps people skip when they are behind schedule. Mandatory before any maintenance sign-off and re-taken annually regardless of grade.
Booking an assessment
Assessments run on the first and third Thursday of each month at the Bramhall yard. Places are confirmed once the relevant module has been completed.
