About the Programme
The library exists so that candidates arrive at a practical assessment having already seen the task performed correctly. It is not a substitute for supervised hours on a machine and it is not accepted as evidence of competence on its own.
Every module is reviewed annually against current guidance. Where a procedure changes, the old recording is withdrawn rather than edited, so that anyone holding a certificate can see exactly which version they were taught.
Modules are grouped by level rather than by machine type, because most of the content that gets people hurt applies across the fleet. Machine-specific material sits in the manufacturer handbooks, not here.
Access is limited to registered candidates and their supervisors. If your registration has lapsed, the registrar can restore it once your employer confirms you are still working under the relevant scheme.
Recorded On Site
Modules are filmed on working compounds rather than in a studio. The noise, the weather and the interruptions are left in, because those are the conditions the assessment is carried out under.
Annual Review
Each module carries the date it was last reviewed and the guidance version it was checked against. Anything more than two years past review is marked and drops out of the mandatory set.
Knowledge Checks
Checks are short and are not graded. They exist so that a candidate notices what they missed before they stand in front of an assessor, not so that anyone can be filtered out beforehand.
Sites and Yards
Filming is done across the four yards and, where a client agrees, on live sites. Site footage is only used once the works are complete and the client has confirmed there is nothing commercially sensitive in shot.
Withdrawn Material
Withdrawn modules stay listed but cannot be started. Keeping them visible avoids the situation where a candidate insists they were taught something and there is no longer any record of it.
Seasonal Content
Winter procedures are released in October and the wet-weather set in March. Candidates working through the year are expected to have completed both before the next renewal falls due.
